Pahalgam Terror Attack LIVE Updates: ‘Bharat will not bend to terror, culprits won’t be spared’ says Amit Shah;

Live News Update on the Pahalgam Terror Attack:

On Wednesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah traveled to Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, where a horrific terrorist attack killed at least 26 people and injured ten more. Following the incident, the government of Jammu and Kashmir provided ₹10 lakh in compensation for the relatives of the deceased, ₹2 lakh for those who suffered major injuries, and ₹1 lakh for those who were injured.

In order to debate India’s response and develop a security policy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to meet with the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) at a high level earlier in the day.

The Prime Minister also met with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on Wednesday morning after his return from Saudi Arabia.

Who asserted accountability?

The Resistance Front (TRF), a covert branch of the outlawed Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist group with headquarters in Pakistan, claimed responsibility for the incident. Tourists were the target of the attack at the Baisaran off-road meadow in the Pahalgam region of South Kashmir.

Back in January 2023, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) declared TRF a terrorist organization under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) due to its involvement in terrorism-related activities, recruitment of terrorists, cross-border infiltration, and smuggling of arms and drugs into the valley from Pakistan. After Article 370 in August 2019, was repealed, TRF became an internet organization.

What’s going on right now?

A high alert has been issued for the Jammu region. Following the incident on Tuesday, protests erupted in a number of locations. Late in the evening, people in Doda town burned effigies and held protests. The Sanatan Dharma Sabha’s Kishtwar unit demanded a stoppage on Wednesday in retaliation to the attack.

Meanwhile, a sizable Muslim population emerged from their homes and chanted anti-Pakistan chants in the Gujjar Nagar neighborhood of Jammu city.
